The rating engine

What is Pulse?

Pulse is your community's own rating: one number from 1 to 10 that captures how you actually play against the people you play with. Every match nudges it, up or down.

  • Local, not global. Scored on your community's real matches.
  • Live. It moves the instant a score is logged.
  • Earned. Fidelity grows the more you play.
  • Yours. A real guide up your community's board.

Global rating systems rank you against the world. Pulse ranks you where it counts: your crew, your court, your rivalries.

How it works

From group chat to leaderboard.

Three steps. No setup call, no manual, no spreadsheet.

1

Claim your community

One login for the whole crew. No app store, no sign-up forms, no per-person accounts.

2

Log as you play

Drop in scores court-side. Casual games or full tournaments, singles or doubles.

3

Watch the Pulse move

Ratings and standings update on the spot. Share the card. Let the trash talk begin.

Who it's for

Built for regulars.

Pickle Pulse works best for groups that already play together regularly. If that sounds like yours, here's what it actually changes.

One place for every result

Scores stop living in chat threads and people's memory. Matches, standings, and history all sit in one spot.

A rating everyone can trust

Because Pulse is built on your group's real matches, it gives a fair, current read on where each player stands. Handy for balancing teams and seeding tournaments.

Casual games that still count

A running leaderboard gives everyday play something to compete for, which tends to keep people coming back.

Less work for whoever runs it

No spreadsheet, no tallying at the end of the night. You log a score and everything updates.

Who should start a community

  • You already organize a regular group: a weekly game, a club, or a WhatsApp crew.
  • Your group plays often enough that a rating means something (people play each other repeatedly, not just once).
  • You enjoy a bit of friendly competition: ladders, leagues, or simply knowing who's on form.

Who it's probably not for

  • If you want a national or global ranking. Pulse is deliberately local; it rates you within your community, not against the world.
  • If you're mainly looking to book courts or find new players. That's not what this does.
  • If you play occasionally with a rotating cast. There won't be enough matches for the rating to settle.

If the first list sounds like your group, setting up a community takes a couple of minutes.

For clubs, courts & venues

Your tournaments shouldn't end when the bracket does.

You already run monthly tournaments. Run them on Pickle Pulse and they stop being disposable. Every event feeds one living leaderboard, so players come back to defend a rank, settle a rivalry, and redeem a result.

Nothing resets

Ratings, rivalries, and history carry across every tournament. No signing up from zero, no data gone when the final ends.

A reason to come back

Lose in the quarters and still climb your Pulse. Players re-register to redeem their rating and their standing.

Fill your quiet courts

Leagues and ladders that run themselves, pulling bookings into the slots between your big events.

Your community, your brand

A leaderboard branded to your venue, and shareable result cards that put you in front of the next batch of players.

Most score-logging tools forget your players the moment the final ends. Pulse doesn't.

Our story

How Pickle Pulse started.

Like all great sporting institutions, it started in a WhatsApp group.

Just a bunch of us who couldn't get enough pickleball. We played every week, talked trash between points, and settled scores the honorable way: loser buys the beer. The banter was relentless, the rivalries were real, and the beer bets were legally binding (in our group chat, at least).

Somewhere between a disputed line call and a lost bet, one of us got ambitious. What if we gave this beautiful chaos some structure?

So it began, humbly, as a scrappy score-logging channel. Then came the tournaments, and our tournament ideas were, let's call them, creative. Every bracket we dreamed up managed to break the previous version of the app. Countless iterations (and a few more beers owed) later, the thing actually started to work.

Cut to today: Pickle Pulse is real. Same competitive spirit that started in that group chat, now with leaderboards, ratings, and receipts. The trash talk finally comes with data to back it up.

I built it for the group. Now it's yours too.

Common questions

How much does it cost?

It's free while we're in pilot. We'll always tell you well before that ever changes.

Do our members need to download an app?

No. One shared community login works in any browser, on any phone. No app store, no per-person accounts.

How do we get our login?

Start your community below and we'll set you up, usually within a day.

What is Fidelity?

Fidelity is how confident Pulse is in a player's rating. It climbs the more matches they log. New players show as provisional until their Fidelity is high enough to trust.

Is our data private?

Your matches stay within your community. A leaderboard only becomes public if you choose to share it.
